Can I send a fax from a smartphone?

Short answer

Yes. The MondialFax form works in the browser of an iPhone or Android smartphone, with no app to install. All you need is the document as a PDF on your phone.

No app to install

MondialFax works in your phone's browser — Safari, Chrome or any other. The form adapts to the screen, and the upload accepts files saved on the phone or in an online storage service.

Turning paper into a PDF with your phone

On iPhone, the Notes or Files app offers “Scan Documents”: it crops the page, straightens it and saves it as a PDF. On Android, Google Drive offers the same feature with its scan button. Choose black and white: fax transmits in black and white, and a high-contrast page arrives more legible.

Photographing the page at an angle, in shadow or in colour is the leading cause of an unreadable fax.

Sending from your phone

Open the MondialFax home page, tap the upload area to choose the PDF, then fill in the country, the fax number, your name and your email. After the countdown, confirm: tracking appears on your phone, and the link is also sent to you by email.

Sending from a mobile, but not to one

A smartphone can send a fax this way, but it cannot receive one: a mobile number is not a fax number, and the form in fact rejects mobile numbers as recipients.

Key points

  • Works in the browser on iPhone and Android.
  • Scan the page to PDF with Notes, Files or Google Drive.
  • A well-framed black-and-white scan works best.
  • A mobile phone cannot receive a fax.
