What you need
A computer with an up-to-date browser, your document in PDF format and the recipient's fax number. No fax machine, no phone line, no modem, no software to install: MondialFax dials the number and transmits the pages.
Sending in four steps
1. On the home page, drop in your PDF — 5 pages and 10 MB maximum. 2. Choose the destination country and enter the fax number as it is dialled within that country. 3. Enter your name and your email address, which is used to send you the acknowledgment of your request. 4. After a short countdown, confirm the send.
Your fax then joins the sending queue, and a status page shows its progress in real time until it is delivered.
Preparing the document
A Word or LibreOffice document can be exported to PDF from the File menu. A paper letter can be scanned with a scanner, or with a smartphone's camera app in document mode. If the recipient expects one, add a cover sheet as the first page: the site generates one for free.
Check the number before confirming: a fax sent to the wrong number cannot be recalled.
After sending
Once the fax has been transmitted, the PDF transmission receipt can be downloaded from the status page. Keep it with a copy of the document: it is your record of the send.
