Short answer
To prevent our lines from being tied up for too long, faxes are limited to 5 pages.
If your document is longer than 5 pages, split it and send it in several transmissions.
5 pages per send
Each fax sent with MondialFax can contain up to 5 pages. The form counts the PDF's pages when it is uploaded and rejects a file over the limit, before anything is sent.
The cover sheet counts towards these 5 pages: if you add one, 4 pages remain for the document itself.
Why there is a limit
A fax is a phone call: the line stays busy for the whole transmission, at roughly half a minute to a minute per page depending on line quality. Limiting the length of each send keeps the lines available for all users of a free service.
Sending a document of more than 5 pages
Split the PDF into several files of 5 pages or fewer — the preview tools in macOS and Windows can extract pages — then send them one after another. Number the sends on the cover sheet (“send 1 of 3”) so the recipient knows when the file is complete.
Key points
- 5 pages maximum per fax, cover sheet included.
- PDF only, 10 MB maximum.
- The page count is checked before sending.
- A longer document is split into several numbered sends.
