What is the quality and format of the faxes?

Short answer

Because service quality matters to us, all your faxed documents are transmitted at high resolution — the most capable, and therefore the sharpest, setting available.

High resolution, black and white

MondialFax transmits your documents in high resolution, the best mode provided by the fax standard. A fax is still a black-and-white image, however: colours become black or white, and gradients are dithered.

Preparing a legible document

Black text on a white background, in 10-point type or larger, comes through perfectly. What suffers is light or very small text, coloured backgrounds, photos and pale-coloured stamps.

For a scan, choose a sharp, high-contrast file rather than a photo taken at an angle: a straightened black-and-white document arrives far more legible than a shadowy colour photo.

Why the result also depends on the recipient

The page is printed again by the recipient's fax machine, with its own paper and ink. An old or poorly maintained machine can degrade a page that left in good quality.

Key points

  • Sent in high resolution.
  • Black-and-white output: avoid pale colours and small text.
  • A sharp, high-contrast PDF gives the best result.
  • The final printout depends on the recipient's fax machine.
